Gray Day × Poor Things

About the project

Gray Day is a yearly celebration of Alasdair Gray and his work, held by the Alasdair Gray Archive. This edition, held at Oran Mor on 25 February 2023, was themed around the Poor Things book, with the film adaptation planned for release around 10 months later.

I designed the event poster and all promotional materials, building a visual identity that tied the archive's aesthetic with the gothic imagery of Poor Things: bones, anatomy, and bold typography against a stark black background. The bone and teeth imagery was scanned directly from the Poor Things book. Designed in collaboration with Neil McGuire.

The event was hosted by Alan Bissett and featured readings from Bernard MacLaverty, Chitra Ramaswamy, Rodge Glass, and Michael Pedersen, with an acoustic set from Jill Lorean.
